Become a Certified EFT Therapist
A Certified EFT Therapist is one whose expertise in this model of therapy is recognized by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). The primary goals of certification are to promote excellence in the practice of EFT and EFFT and to ensure maintenance of these standards in both the supervision and training of this approach.

Pre-Requisites for EFT Certification
- A post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline / mental health field such as Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling, Marital and Family Therapy, and Pastoral Care.
- Membership in a recognized professional association, such as AAMFT, CAMFT.
- Currently offering professional clinical therapy to couples and/or families.
- Licensed to practise psychotherapy in the state / province in which you live.
- Proof of malpractice insurance.
- Completion of at least one graduate course on the practice of couples / family therapy at a registered institution or equivalent.
- Membership in ICEEFT
Training Requirements for EFT Certification
- Completion of an ICEEFT-endorsed EFT 4-day Externship led by a Certified EFT Trainer
- Completion of Core Skills led by a Certified EFT Trainer
- 8 hours of individual supervision by a Certified EFT Supervisor, Trainer, or Approved Supervisor Candidate ('Individual' may include up to 2 supervisees)

- Summary of previous clinical training & experience
- Current CV
- 3 letters of references from professional colleagues
- Letter of reference from your current EFT supervisor
- Copies of all relevant documents from the list of pre-requisites noted above
- Documented evidence of completion of the requirements
- Case Review: 3-page conceptualization, two videotapes of two entire sessions, 20-minute video segment of Stage 1 process, 20-minute video segment of Stage 2 process, transcripts of both segments
